SKINCYCLES DNA Defence Sun Shield

Don’t forget your sunscreen during this not so dry January…

Remember, damage to the skin, caused by the sun can occur throughout all seasons.

There are three types of Ultra Violet light. They are, UVA, UVB and UVC.

UVA is responsible for most of the skin damage caused by the sun, as it is the most potent of the rays, with 95% of its radiation entering Earth’s atmosphere. It has the longest wavelength of the 3 types of UV, therefore has the ability to penetrate through clouds, windows and deeper layers of the skin. It is prevalent all year round, which is why it is necessary to use an spf all year round.

UVA affects both the epidermis (top layers of the skin) and the dermis (deeper layers of the skin)

Damage caused by uva, presents as premature ageing, lines & wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and skin cancer. It may also exacerbate vascular conditions such as rosacea and diffuse redness

UVB usually more prevalent in the summer months, or hot and sunny climates and those closer to the equator. UVB has a shorter wavelength than UVA, with 5% of its radiation entering Earth’s atmosphere, which is why the damage caused by UVB may be more noticeable hotter weather, with stronger sunshine. Or at higher altitudes such as when skiing.

UVB predominantly causes damage to the upper layers of the skin, resulting in blisters, sun burn and delayed tanning. UVB can cause some skin also contribute to some signs of ageing and skin cancers too.

UVC, although this ray has the shortest wavelength, it has the highest energy output, therefore is very harmful to the upper layer of the skin. Fortunately, Earths, ozone layer currently almost, completely blocks UVC from entering our planet’s atmosphere.

SKINCYCLES DNA Defence Sun Shield makes it a whole lot easier.

The new sunscreen form Skincycles provides very high-level broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB, this light-weight formula contains a defence DNA complex, that strengthens the skins immune system, whilst stimulating repair of damaged cells. Not only will it protect your skin from harmful UV rays, it will also protect you from indoor lighting and light emanating from electronic devices, phone screens, tablets, laptops and the like. Visible light has the capacity to trigger, or worsen hyperpigmentation.

Please see below, for the other beneficial ingredients, this wonder cream contains.

Titanium and Zinc oxide– These naturally occurring minerals act as physical sunblock, reflecting away from the skin, much of the sun’s rays and harmful visible light, given off by electronic devices and artificial lighting.

Iron Oxides– Iron oxides are natural minerals, which have sun-blocking action, whilst balancing the oil production of the skin. Iron oxides are often used on mineral make up as they come in a variety on pigments, so when used in an spf, they help to prevent the whiteish/ grey tint often associated with some sunscreens.

Hexapeptide-12, a hero ingredient, which can also be found in the popular skincycles Biocellulose Masks. This anti-oxidant peptide, improves the firmness of the skin and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Ferulic Acid is a well know, favourite, as it is great for reducing and preventing discoloration and redness, caused by UVA and UVB damage. It is also widely used for protecting sensitive skin and compromised skin for oxidative stress.

Anthemis Noblis flower extract lends a helping hand with its anti-redness properties, helping to reduce and prevent inflammation, also associated with sun damage. This ingredient has great healing properties, particularly good for burns, acne and minor cuts and abrasions. Another plus, due to its mineral content, is its replenishing action and anti-ageing effects.

Camellia Sinensis leaf extract (green tea)– Hydrating and anti-inflammatory antioxidant.

Tocopherol acetate (Vitamin E) Super antioxidant protection, as well as stimulating the regeneration of healthy cells. Vitamin E will also protect against damage causes by UV rays.
